Good afternoon and happy Monday! We're starting off the week right with a Made in Canada giveaway here on The Candid Reviewer. Today we find ourselves in Saskatchewan, the bread basket of Canada, and home to Laurie of Prairie Sky Creations. Laurie's jewelry covers a wide range of styles and is inspired by...yup you guessed it, the prairie sky 'because it can be so colorful and huge!'.

The jewelry at Prairie Sky Creations are full of colors and textures that pay homage to the beauty of the Canadian prairies. Laurie loves 'colours and rocks and things that are different.' And she finds 'the prairie sky so inspiring because it can be so colourful and HUGE.' Laurie creates 'pieces that bring out the best of the materials she uses.' Laurie has a great giveaway for my readers, she is going to be sending one lucky winner a pair of her Copper Ripple Earrings! These earrings are made by Laurie using a hydraulic press and embossing form, as well as a technique she calls 'firepainting'.

'These earrings are made using a hydraulic press and an embossing die (form) that I carved out of acrylic. I press the design into the copper using a few thousand pounds of pressure. After that I do what I call "firepainting" with a torch to get the beautiful colours. Any time you apply pressure to your copper either with a hammer or the hydraulic press, it hardens the copper. Once it is hardened you can get really vibrant colours from it.'

These earrings promise to be the 'belle of the ball' with their shimmering colors and unique texture!
