|Christmas in November| MyChime {review} from Honeywell

Who to buy for :
-Family
- New Home Owners

Who has you covered :

Last month my family and I received a fantastically festive MyChime from Honeywell, the package consisted of a wireless push button and doorbell, preloaded with a Christmas themed jingle of bells, a Halloween howl, a New Years bar of Auld Lang Syne, as well as a traditional Windsor Chime, and more. I also received a Christmas themed sound card loaded with four popular holiday melodies. MyChime is a great way to add that extra bit of holiday spirit, and will be sure to delight your guests, both young and old this Christmas season. My family and I are always looking for an excuse to ring the doorbell now! And hearing 'Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies' whenever someone is at the door is just too cute. Our MyChime was super easy to program, and came with easily understandable instructions, it really was as simple as 1-2-3 and we soon had our MyChime set up and ready for guests to ring. We were also very impressed with the quality of our MyChime, the parts are sturdy and the sound is crystal clear, you can choose from 4 volume settings. And the sleek design of the MyChime doorbell makes it suitable for any room in the home, we have our doorbell in the kitchen as that is where you are most likely to find one of us and the doorbell blends right in. I would definitely recommend the MyChime from Honeywell to anyone looking for that finishing touch this holiday season. The great thing about MyChime is that it can be enjoyed all year long, either with the traditional Windsor Chime or by changing it up for New Years, Halloween, and Christmas, or whenever you'd like something different! We have had a blast with our MyChime and will be sure to enjoy it for quite sometime.

Where to buy :
You can purchase a MyChime from a retailer near you.

I received a MyChime free of charge in order to facilitate my review; however, all opinions expressed in this post are my own, and have not been influenced in any way. I was not paid for this post.

|Christmas in November| Hand Soap {review} from Wembe

Who to buy for :
- Co-workers
-Family
- Friends

Who has you covered :

Hand soap makes a great gift for a variety of occasions and is especially fun to use as a stocking stuffer during the holiday season. I love to give soap almost as much as I love to receive soap, it can be quite an adventure 'sniffing-out' the perfect bar of soap to suit your recipients personality! However, last week I was the recipient of two bars of hand soap that had been sent to me by Wembe, a company that believes in nothing less than 100% natural and organic skin care. I received one bar of Snow and one bar of Chocolate, and they have both been super gentle yet very cleansing for my ridiculously sensitive skin. Snow is the more feminine of the two bars, inspired by traditional indigenous medicine, Snow is made with mint, eucalyptus and essential oils from refreshing plants. Chocolate is the more 'manly' of the two, from the heart of the forest, Chocolate invokes the wildest side of your soul. Dark and exotic, the jungle's aphrodisiac promotes healthy skin and deep stimulation of the senses. For the chocolate soap, I would recommend a soap dish as it did leave a slight brown residue on my counter top (which was easily removed with water).

Here's a little bit more about Wembe :

Our mission is to satiate the human thirst for nature; infusing our products with the purest ingredients from natural sources, certified organic when possible, using our knowledge of the power of the rainforest plants and fruits and the magic of aromatherapy, respecting our environment. Helping our community and always respect other beings.

$7.90 USD

$7.35 USD

Where to buy :
You can purchase a variety of natural soaps for the face and body online from Wembe - Amazonian Soul.

CLOSED |Christmas in November| UV Protection Sunglasses {review + giveaway} from Real Kids Shades

THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED

Who to buy for :
- Infants (0-24 months)
- New Parents

Who has you covered :

I recently had the opportunity to work with Real Kids Shades on a review of their 100% UV Protection Sunglasses for infants (0 - 24 months). These particular sunglasses are from their line of Star Pupils-branded 100% ultraviolet (UV-A & UV-B) protective children's sunglasses, that not only protect your own child's developing vision, but a percentage of proceeds are donated directly to Prevent Blindness America's children's vision education initiative.

"Recognizing that children's eyes are at special risk from the harmful effects of UV rays, since their eyes are still developing and are more vulnerable to sun damage, we developed Real Kids Shades to provide serious UV protection", says Lisa Medora, vice president of product development, Real Kids Shades. "By providing support to Star Pupils, we hope parents will make their children's eye health a priority."

I am very impressed with the quality of the sunglasses I received, as well as the attention to detail. There are no metal hinges or pointed edges, and the wrap around polycarbonate frames are held in place on your child's head by an adjustable neoprene band. These sunglasses are fantastic for that active toddler, and will protect their eyes all year long, either from the glare of the sun when you're at the beach in the summer or from the glare of the snow on your skiing holiday. I will definitely recommend Real Kids Shades 100% UV protection sunglasses to all the parents I know who have kids 12 and under.

"Prevent Blindness America, the nation's leading volunteer eye health and safety organization, is launching its 'Star Pupils' campaign, the organization's children's platform, designed to educate parents on children's vision issues."

In the United States, Star Pupils is a campaign that is striving to educate parents about the preventative measures that can be taken when it comes to their children's eye health. Did you know that 80% of children diagnosed with a learning disability have an undiagnosed vision problem? Or that 70% of juvenile delinquents have visual problems? I believe whole heartedly in preventative measures, so I am glad to see such a large step being taken when it comes to the well being of a future generation's eye sight, as President Barack Obama explained, "No child should be falling behind at school because he can't hear the teacher or see the blackboard. I refuse to accept that millions of our kids fail to reach their full potential because we fail to meet their basic needs." And Prevent Blindness America's CEO and President Hugh R. Perry added, "Our nation's future is in our children's eyes." And this holiday season you can give the gift of healthy eyesight to your own children (grandchildren/nephews/nieces/friend's kids!) with Real Kids Shade's line of Star Pupils sunglasses for kids ages 0 to 12 years. I have a feeling these will be on my list of Baby Shower gifts, as it is really never too early to protect your children's eyesight.

Where to buy :
You can purchase 100% UV Protection sunglasses for children 0 - 12 years online at RealKidsShades.com.

|Christmas in November| Bubble Talk {review + giveaway} from Techno Source

To buy for :
- Kids ages 8+

Who has you covered :

For the last few weeks my family and I have been playing Bubble Talk, which has proved to be an absolute hoot! Bubble Talk is played with a random selection of 150 hilarious pictures and 300 wacky captions, with the aim of the game being to match the picture in play with the funniest caption from your hand of caption cards. The winner of that round is the player whose caption the judge deems the most 'side-splitting', the winner then gets to keep that picture, and the first person to seven pictures is the overall winner. This game can be played with all members of the family and can be a quick time filler or make for an entire evening of entertainment. Last Friday night I took Bubble Talk with me to the local Youth Group where I volunteer, many of the kids were away with colds so I sat the kids (ages 10 to 15) down for (what I thought would be) a quick game of Bubble Talk, the kids played through just about every picture in the pack! They absolutely loved it. The great thing about Bubble Talk is that the rules can be tailored to suit any need, we played it with each player (except the judge) always having five caption cards and the kids could put dibs on being judge for the next round, and on the odd occasion where the judge couldn't pick their favorite caption the entire group could vote between 1 or 2 of the judge's favorites. Bubble Talk is easy to learn and makes for a fantastic time for the entire family. I highly recommend adding Bubble Talk to your gift list this holiday season for any kids who enjoy a good laugh.

Here's a little bit more about Bubble Talk from Techno Source :

'Bubble Talk is the hilarious photo-caption board game for friends and family! Match funny pictures with funnier captions. Learn to play in less than a minute! Perfect for parties, game nights, and for travel. Designed to be played for a few minutes or for a few hours. Features 150 color photographs and 300 caption cards! Ages 8+'

|Christmas in November| Homemade Christmas Gifts {gust post} by Margo Smith

If money is tight and you have decided to make all your gifts this year, you’re in good company. Lots of people are choosing to share something of themselves as they craft gifts for their friends and loved ones. You chose a wonderful time too, since now more than ever it is possible to learn online how to do everything from assembling your own lamp to leather crafting to creating fabulous recipes. The best thing is that each offering can be customized to match the receiver perfectly. So don’t feel like you have to alarm everyone on your list with Aunt Madge’s famous fruit cake, or resort to paint by numbers kits in order to have a present for each person on your list. You can satisfy your creative nature and give gifts that will be appreciated enough to become family heirlooms.

This first item would make an unexpected gift, or you can use it for a holiday party this year. Have you ever made your own piñata? They are fun to make using the paper mâché method with a large balloon and plenty of newspapers. You can make it in any shape you choose. Is the gift for a football fan? What better present than a football shaped piñata with treats and special prizes tucked inside? If you need help getting started, try this site: http://familycrafts.about.com/cs/papermache/a/051500pm.htm. ModPodge enthusiasts, like http://modpodgerocksblog.com/, are quick to point out that you can craft almost anything with this simple substance. Try this technique whenever you want to preserve anything decorative made of paper that can be varnished. Trays, plates and blocks of wood are easy to dress up by using decoupage. Here is another site for you: http://decoupage.org/faq.htm. The paper you use can also be handcrafted or can be something as simple as magazine cut-outs or wrapping paper remnants. You can take into account the interests of the person to whom you are presenting the gift when you choose your materials.

There is no end to the ornaments you can make by hand. A little vision, creativity and just a few supplies and you can turn out beautiful treasures for the tree. This site http://www.exploreasheville.com/what-to-
do/seasonal-fun/holidays/homemade-christmas-ornaments/index.aspx will give you a smattering of ideas, but know that there are oodles more, just search online. Some easy things to make are felt ornaments. Find or invent a pattern you like and cut out the pieces of felt, adding embroidery details and a loop for hanging and you have yourself a lovely addition for anyone’s Christmas tree. You can even make them three-dimensional by putting in a bit of batting before you sew them up. Bring back the tradition of making your own garlands from materials you have available. You can use popcorn and cranberries or string less usual items like spools of thread and bobbins for the seamstress on your list.

Every child needs ideas for things to do on a rainy day. Put together a kid craft kit for future solutions to the oft-heard complaint from your kids, “I’m borrrrrred.” You can whip up puzzles by using enlarged photos of your children mounted on cardboard and protected with clear contact paper. Consider including homemade play dough, pudding paint (This is just a box of pudding-water can be added to proper consistency to make a terrific finger painting medium.) Be sure to enclose plenty of craft papers, paints, string and brushes. Include newspapers to contain the mess and a smock to keep any goop from their clothes.

Crocheting and knitting patterns can be found free of charge on the yarn labels or online. This may be a good springboard for future projects for you: http://www.allcrafts.net/crochetknit.htm. If every member of your family already has a homemade afghan from you, consider branching out to other items such as bibs, dolls or Christmas decorations. Angels, snowflakes and snowmen lend themselves well to being crocheted. Knitted sweaters make beautiful gifts. Just look around - you can find inspiration and patterns in many places.

Paper crafts include easily assembled items such as hand crafted envelopes (Here’s a site with a pattern to print: http://www.scrapbooksetc.com/printables/patterns/printable-envelope-pattern/.) Paper can also be used for involved and delicate decorations. You can find books and websites dedicated to the art of assembling pretty things from paper. You can make your own personalized bookmarks, put together a piece of work suitable for framing or make decorative note cards for invitations, thank yous and so on.

A pleasant memory is something to be treasured forever. If you are an avid scrapbooker or would like to learn this way of chronicling your life, build a page for each family member to start their own albums. You can take this same technique and create a customized calendar that will be perused long after the year ends. These free printables can get you started on this lasting gift: http://www.printpicnic.com/seasonal-plaidscalendar.html

To round out the list, here are a few more ideas for you. Customized magnets are not difficult to make from clear glass baubles, small magnets and cut-outs to match the person’s kitchen and personality. Here’s a good site for this project: http://www.notmartha.org/tomake/marblemagnets/. Use fabric transfers, puff paints or fabric paint to draw anything on fabric. You can create aprons, pillowcases, canvas totes and backpacks that are personalized to suit. Embroidery is another way you can decorate these items. Puppets (sock puppets are easy, cheap and versatile – this site will help you with the how-tos: http://www.dannyandkim.com/SockPuppets.html). Homemade candles make very nice gifts. You can add crayons for color and scent can also be stirred in the mix to further customize this for gift giving.

Celebrate the interests and talents of the people on your gift list this season by crafting a personalized treasure just for them. If you have not found anything on this list that matches your needs, you can pull up page after page of ideas online. Plan to give something of yourself as you lovingly create homemade gifts for those you hold dear. Everyone will know how much you cared as they appreciate their very own personalized present this Christmas.
